Econ Win?

Okay, so I've complained a bit about my Econ professor. And he still has policies that I'm not happy with. But, I'm doing the reading for a quiz I have to take, and suddenly I'm thinking better of him. He posted some PowerPoint slides, and they're talking not just about globalization, but putting it in very modern terms. Which is nice, anyway, as it makes it easier to understand and apply it to real life.

But what's making me happy is sure sounds like my prof is anti-Trump. I don't know if he wrote these slides or found them somewhere, but either way, he's using them, so I doubt he disagrees with the content. At any rate, he's nailing him for how his administration will likely screw up not just our economy, but possibly others, as well. And why basically everything he said about global trade during the election was a big fat lie. =D Now, this is nice, anyway, but my last two Econ books have read like the author had some pretty obvious Republican leanings. That was annoying. So, it's nice to see a different Econ teacher taking a different track.

And I can't help but wonder how this class is going over, with the other students. There are a lot of ignorant, redneck Trump voters in the midwest. I'd imagine there are some in at least one iteration of this class. Part of me's feeling a little schadenfreude, because they're getting schooled. But then, I can't help but think...they're probably too stupid to understand or accept it. =/ A common trait of these bozos is that their fingers are firmly planted in their ears as they chant 'La la la!' to anyone offering them facts that contradict their 'beliefs'. And, too, you would hope that most of the college educated types wouldn't believe him anyway. But, you would hope that he wouldn't have gotten elected in the first place, so at this point...anything can happen. =P

...I don't know. This post is a little random and pointless, but for once, I didn't have trouble slogging through my assigned reading, and it made me smile. So, here I am.

...I have never in my life been ashamed of my country before. I am now. I always talk about how stupid the general public is, and how I don't really have much faith in humanity...well, apparently I had more than I thought, because I am genuinely shocked and sickened by this turn of events. I didn't really think it could happen. Surely we, as a nation, couldn't be this stupid, this hateful. Well, clearly I was wrong. And I don't know what we're supposed to do, from here. As a woman, this scares me. And even still, I know I'm better off than many. I'm white, I'm straight, I was born here. Many people fall into more than one group that Trump and his ilk are ready to attack. I'm scared for them, too.

I just...there are no words. How could we let this happen?

Oh, thank God. Obama was re-elected. My country isn't completely full of morons, after all! =D

According to this map I found, Obama won pretty handily, too. <3 He had nearly 100 more electoral votes and he won the popular vote, too. I am so freaking relieved. Like, weak-kneed, over here. I kinda thought Obama would win, but I was so scared of what'd happen if we actually elected Romney. *Shudder* I kept poking at a bunch of news sites all evening at work...the waiting was brutal, seriously. But it was all worth it, to see those big headlines calling the race for Obama. <3

And not only did Obama win, but at least two of the more vocal anti-choice fuckheads that were running (Akin and Mourdock) lost to their Democratic opponents! Neither one was in my state, so I couldn't help vote them out, but it still made me happy. Maybe now, these psycho anti-choicers will back the fuck off. Yeah, yeah, wishful thinking, I know...

I am so, so glad this election season is over. I was just toxic. I know that politics suck, and it's always a circus come election time, but good grief. I swear, I think it was worse this time than it was in either of the other presidential elections I voted in. So, I am very much ready for it to be over. No more obnoxious political ads. No more stupid yard signs. No more ignorant, hateful things said by these fuckwit Republicans. (Yeah, I know, they'll come back. But hopefully they'll shut up for a while, anyway.)

Now, it's time for some dinner, and a little TV. Then off to bed. I should sleep much better tonight!

The Bill of Reproductive Rights is an effort by the Center for Reproductive Rights to deliver a thundering statement—backed by hundreds of thousands of signatures from concerned citizens like you—to the U.S. Congress and the President that they must guarantee and protect reproductive rights as fundamental human rights and stop the attacks by politicians who want to take those rights away.

Draw the line! Sign the Bill of Reproductive Rights!

Note to self:

Don't read political blogs/news stories shortly before bed. It just pisses me off, and then I have a harder time settling down to sleep. (How can I sleep when there are so many idiots I want to rant at? XD) There are just so many messed up people in the world, and it seems like lately, most of them are involved in politics in some way or another. =P Seriously, people. Keep your ignorant, backwards ideas to yourself. Stop trying to pass laws that restrict other peoples' rights. Stop screwing up basic societal necessities. Just...stop. Stop being so bloody stupid and hateful. Stop making this country, and sometimes the whole human race, look bad.

Damn, and it's only going to get worse as November approaches, isn't it...Ugh. Did I mention how much I hate politics? =P

Join us in standing up for reproductive health and education. Planned Parenthood, the organization that delivers reproductive health care, sex education and information to millions of people worldwide, has come under fire in the U.S. lately, with many politicians on both state and federal level seeking to end funding (and in a few cases succeeding).

During the month of May, you can send a specially designed Planned Parenthood vgift to your friends to help support this cause. (And if you need someone to send it to, [personal profile] frank is always happy to receive gifts!) There are three variations ($1, $5 and $10) for you to choose from, but they'd all look good on your profile when your friends know that you stand by something so important.

Thank you all for your help in our support for Planned Parenthood. This promotion ends June 1, 2012; LiveJournal is not affiliated with Parent Parenthood. For more information about Planned Parenthood, please visit:

Oh, internet...I missed you. <3 My wonderful, lovely desktop...I missed you most of all. <3

*Cough* Ahem. Yeah....I've been without a computer for nearly two weeks due to a really nasty virus problem. Thankfully, my dad is a Tech God, and managed to salvage my files, so I didn't lose anything. And I finally broke in that new external HD I bought...oh, months ago. So now, all my files are backed up nicely, and I have a new addition to my desk. So, goodbye clunky DVD backups! =D This is so much easier!

Due to the aforementioned problems, it was necessary to wipe my HD and reinstall everything. This has resulted in an unwilling upgrade to FireFox 3. I'm not pleased. I don't like the design much, but mostly I hate the so-called "awesome bar"...whoever came up with that stupid bit of code needs to be smacked on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper. Seriously...the address bar in FF2 was fine. And you know the saying; if it ain't broke, don't fix it! They'd better put out an update that lets you pick to go back to a FF2-style address bar. And the only reason I haven't downgraded is because they're stopping support for FF2 in about a month. And those security updates are important, so I don't have a choice; if I want to keep my security up-to-date, I have to upgrade. So, boo Mozilla. You're in the doghouse for now. Clean up your act.

And I've been sick this past week. (Bleh, allergies are evil...) Not fun. Though, I think I'm over it now. And I have to say...during this whole mess; no computer, sick half the TiVo has been a godsend. Oh, so much love for that little box. <3

As for the election, this comic just about covers my reaction. =D I'm thrilled to say that this is one of those wonderful times that I'm not embarrassed to be an American. Separation of church and state FTW. I'd kinda thought that Obama would win, but hell...this country was stupid enough to elect Bush not once, but twice. So, electing Bush 2.0 wasn't exactly a stretch. I was so relieved. Also, I'm quite ready to see someone stuff Sarah Palin in a box and mail her back where she came from. (Sorry, Alaskans. If you don't want her either, feel free to forward the box to Abu Dhabi.) I really can't stand that woman. I wasn't going to vote for McCain anyway, but if I had been...I'd have voted against him just because of her. Seriously. So, in short, yay election! =D

...I think that's it, for now. <3
