wildvision: (Iroh - O-Tea-P)
I just got another box from Adagio on Friday. Mostly I just ordered more of teas that I was running low on, but I did get a couple of new flavors to try. So, of course, I had to start with one of those. <3

Coconut

Vendor: Adagio
Type: Black tea
Amount of leaf: 5 tsp
Amount of water: Approx. 16 oz.
Water temp: Boiling
Steep time: 5 minutes
Additions: Milk and sugar

Thoughts:

Note to self: Stop trying to brew black teas with 5 tsp of leaf. It doesn't work; it's too much. Give it up already. =P

Seriously, though, this tea seems interesting. I'm loathe to judge it too much either way, since I did brew it too strong. What few impressions I did have of it, though, I'll list here. First, the coconut flavor...it seems to be somewhat middle-of-the-range. Not super strong, but not super weak, either. Honestly, I'd have preferred it to be a bit stronger. But I was afraid that it'd be weaker than it was, so I'm not really complaining. And besides, I'm not entirely sure that it won't turn out to be stronger if I brew the tea better...I had to use so much milk and sugar to tone down the bitterness of the tea, it's quite possible that I lost some of the coconut flavor while I was at it. Or maybe not. Who knows. XD I'll find out the next time I brew this, I guess.

Next time I'm definitely using less leaf. Probably 4 tsp...that's been a good amount for my other black teas. I should have started there, honestly, but oh well. I look forward to trying this one again. <3

...Man, it's after 4:30 already. How did that happen? =P
