Well, I Finally Caved...
Feb. 4th, 2013 05:29 am...I upgraded to a smart phone.
Yeah, I know. It's about freaking time, huh? My parents have been pestering me to upgrade for ages, but I just couldn't get myself to do it. Largely because of the cost. They were never cheap, and I just didn't think I'd use the 'smart' aspect enough for it to be worth the cost. But now, it turns out that upgrading would only raise the monthly charge for my phone by $10. That's not bad at all. And, I even lucked out and got the phone itself on sale. Normally they go for $200, but I got it for $100. <3
I went with a Samsung Galaxy S III, which is what my dad has. I swear, it was funny. I was talking to Mom and Dad about which phone I'd want, and they were both showing off theirs and pointing out the cool features. Dad's got the Galaxy and Mom's got an iPhone. My brother also has an iPhone. I swear, Dad did a little cheer when I told him I'd decided on the Samsung. XD I guess he was feeling alone.
So we ran to Best Buy on Saturday night, since the sale ended that day. I swear, the girl who was helping us was a little gobsmacked when she saw how long it'd been since I'd upgraded my phone. (2008) Then I told her that I'd had a phone since I graduated HS, that I was 28 now, and I'd only had two in that span. She was pretty surprised. Apparently everyone else either just trades them in or breaks them much more frequently than that. XD
So we got my phone and came home...only to find that it was buggy. I was playing with it while we drove home, and I noticed it. Then Dad looked at it once we got home, and he saw it, too. So, he started tinkering around, trying to fix it. Nothing. Finally, he gave up and said we'd have to take it back.
So, that's what we did today. Got up this morning and went back to Best Buy. Told the guy there what was going on, and he tried fixing it, too. He didn't have any more luck than Dad, so he swapped it out and gave me a new one. This one seems to be working fine. <3
And, of course, I've been playing with it all day. Looking up ringtones, and apps, and just tinkering around with things in general. It's pretty neat. And I even found a case I liked in the store; I kinda figured I'd have to order one. Believe it or not, I found one that was frosted purple; nearly the same shade as my old car, no joke. So I had to have it. XD
...Ack, I need to be getting to bed. It's getting late, and tomorrow's Monday. =P
