wildvision: (Beatrice/Battler - You're going down)
Well, I finally finished Umineko. I actually got so caught up in it that I didn't jot things down much, the way I did with previous episodes. ^^;; So, this post is kinda short.

But still full of spoilers~! )

...Yeah, that's about it for now. I need to get to bed. I may post again later, with more thoughts. I dunno. ^^;;
wildvision: (Beatrice/Battler - You're going down)
I'm in a seriously good mood right now. Considering that this the last day of my vacation, and I have to go back to work tomorrow, that's a little surprising. XD

First off, Witch Hunt posted their complete patch for Umineko Episode 8 yesterday. So, I'm seriously psyched about that. It may be a little while before I'm able to read it, though. Holidays, plus the fact that I want to start at the beginning and go through to the end...and I don't want to have to stop in the middle for anything. Still. Yay!

Then, I just checked RightStuf's website. I ordered the complete series of Shoujo Kakumei Utena, the shiny new remastered sets. (Happy Birthday to me~!) And they're doing a promotion now that if you order all three sets from them, you'll get a replica of the rose signet ring that the duelists wear in the show. (Here's a picture they posted.) Of course it's a 'while supplies last' thing, and I was afraid I wouldn't get one since I waited so late to order. (The third set came out on 12/6.) But I just checked my order on the website, and I am getting one! So, I'm kind of thrilled. <3

And now, I'm off to find some dinner. Ja~!
wildvision: (Beatrice/Battler - You're going down)
I got my Umineko games in the mail today! =D

I swear, it's a little absurd how giddy I feel about that. I mean...I know I can't play them yet. And it'll be a while still before the patches come out. (Like, months. At least.) But still...I guess it's just that it feels like I'm one step closer to that, now. XD Plus, I was never able to get an EP 7 disk, so I feel better just knowing that I have these, for when the patches do come out.

And now I'm debating how I'm going to handle the last couple of episodes. Do I want to play EP 7 as soon as the compatibility patch comes out, or do I wait until the patch for EP 8 and read them both together? Also, do I want to reread the first six episodes when the EP 8 patch comes out, then finish with the last two new episodes? Or do I want to read episodes 7 and 8, then go back and reread the whole series from the start? The idea there being that, once I finish the last two episodes, I'll hopefully have some answers...and then, by rereading the earlier episodes, I may understand them better.

That feels kind of roundabout to me, though. Plus, I've only read the first six episodes once...it'd probably be a good idea for me to reread them, just so I remember what's going on. Ah, well. I've got a few months to think about it, I guess!
wildvision: (Heero/Duo - One step further)
Well, that was a bit quicker than I'd expected.

I got my bill from Paletweb and sent them a payment, along with an email saying that I'd done so. This was last night, right before I went to bed. Then, this morning when I got up, I'd gotten a confirmation email from them. They received the payment, and confirmed my address and the shipping method I'd chosen. And it said that they'll send me another email when they ship the item. Which won't be until the end of December, of course. So, I guess now I just have to wait.

And it's almost funny how impatient I'm feeling, already. XD See, this is why I kinda don't like to order things online. It drives me nuts waiting for my package to arrive. And that's on a normal order...but now, this is a pre-order. So, I don't just have to wait a week or so. I have to wait a month (and a day or so) for the release date to come, then probably another week or so for it to ship and arrive here. Plus, if my only other experience with EMS holds true, I'll probably have to make a trip to the post office to pick it up. (My carrier delivers before I wake up, and they wouldn't just leave the package last time. So I had to go in and get it.)

...And on a completely different note, I'm starting to get a little pissed off at Netflix. I've been trying to rent Code Geass for the last week or two. Emphasis on trying. First, disk 1 gets delayed. Annoying, but no big deal. I get it, then a little while later, I get disks 2 and 3. But disk 2 won't work. So I go to report it as damaged and ask for a replacement, but the site won't let me, since I got the disk before the estimated arrival date. Which is BS. But okay, I wait a couple of days, and report the disk. So they send me a replacement, which I got today. I try the new copy of disk 2 and guess what! It doesn't work either! Grah! I'm about to scream, here, seriously. And, of course, I can't report this one yet, either.

This is really pissing me off. Normally, I'd probably just say 'fuck it' and buy the damn disk. But this is so early in the series, I don't really want to start sinking money into it since I'm not sure I'll even like it that much. =/ And this is a recent enough series that the disks are still a bit expensive. Plus, this series is released in sets, and I only need the one disk. So, yeah. Not very inclined to do that. Plus, I'm annoyed that I can't watch any of the later disks that I've gotten, since I've never seen this series before and I don't want to try to just skip five or six episodes. =P

...And now it's about time to start getting ready for work. Bleh. Time for some lunch, I think.
wildvision: (InuYasha/Kagome - Legendary)
I just pre-ordered Umineko EP8 and Tsubasa. =D

I decided to forgo the fighting game, for now at least. I always suck at them, and they never hold my interest for long. And that's when they're in English and come with an instruction booklet. ^^;; Make it Japanese, and I'm afraid I'd get frustrated with it even faster. And hey, I can always order it later if I change my mind.

As for the two I did get, I used Paletweb. I would have used HimeyaShop, which is where I got the previous games, but they're not taking orders now. =( I've never bought from Paletweb before, but I've heard that they're trustworthy. It's a little nerve-wracking, though...They're set up a little oddly. (And the English on their site is a little iffy.)

You place the order, then you have to wait for a bill in your email. (I haven't gotten mine yet.) Then, you go to Paypal and send the payment, I guess. And, since this is a pre-order...I'm not entirely sure. I think that I still pay now...I'm hoping that'll be made clear in the next email. We'll see, I guess. ^^;;

Freedom~!

Ah, vacation! Such a lovely thing. <3 I'm off for the week, and I'm seriously thrilled.

And I must say, it's getting off to a good start. I got to go shopping today, which is always nice. I didn't buy much, but I got to have some coffee and spend time with Mom. So, yay.

Also, when I got online earlier, I found this over on [livejournal.com profile] rokkenjima. Not only did they release the title and portrait for Umineko Episode 8, apparently they're releasing two other Umineko games at this next Comiket. A collection of all the TIPS in VN form, and a fighting game. Yes, really.

I'm not sure if I'm going to buy the other games, or not. If Witch Hunt's going to do a patch for Tsubasa, I'll definitely buy it. If not, then there's no reason to. As for Ougon Musou Kyoku....I dunno. I'm tempted, that's for sure. But I don't know how much I'd get out of it, untranslated. And I somewhat doubt that anyone would translate it. Though, someone might post the commands, menu navigation, etc. Hmm. I'll have to think about it. XD

Also, I started a new manga the other day, but I'm not quite sure what I think of it. Anyone else reading Soul Eater? I'm roughly half-way through it; just finished volume 11. And...I dunno. The concept is good, but the execution kinda sucks. I don't know if the translation of my scanslations just sucks, or if the dialogue of this series is just nonsensical. But it's confusing.

Also, it's glaringly obvious that the mangaka is a perverted old man. =P I'm so sick of the fanservice, seriously. I think they've shown every single female character naked at least once. (Except for Maka, but we've seen her underwear several times. Which, considering how young she looks...is really skeevy.) I'm a little unsure of the cast, too. I like Maka, Soul, and Stein...but that's about it.

Damn it, I want to like this series. But I just don't know. I'll probably read a little more, and see if it gets better, because I'm stubborn. So, I guess that's my question. Does it get better? And what about the anime? Is it any better than the manga?

...And now I'm hungry. Time to raid the kitchen~

Hurm...

wildvision: (Sora - Look to the sky)
Well, Umineko Episode 7 is out.

...And it's driving me absolutely nuts, debating whether or not to look at the spoilery stuff. I've looked at a little, but I'm trying to refrain from looking any further. For one, I'm not a fan of being spoiled. But mainly, it's just that...Umineko's so damn confusing as-is. Even reading the VNs themselves, I don't get what's going on half the time. And if you start taking things out of context, hearing them online...that'd be even worse, I'd think.

Not to mention the fact that you never know what's actually a legitimate spoiler and what isn't. Some people like to post fake stuff, and then even the things that are 'legit' could still be wrong, since they're coming from people playing the Japanese version of the game. I'd bet that few people in the fandom are fluent, so anything posted by people that aren't could be mistranslated/misunderstood/whatever.

Still...all that aside...I really want to look. Because it's just aggravating, knowing that it's out, but I can't read it yet. =P I don't know how long it'll take for a patch to come out, but it's a safe bet to say that it'll be several months. And that's totally reasonable, of course. But I'm still impatient, and so I'm flailing around about this.

Not to mention, I've been haunting Umineko sites, looking for music downloads. The new Music Box, especially, but there are several other albums that came out at this Comiket that I'd love to hear, too. So I keep coming across these Ep 7 reaction/theory posts, and it's tempting. =P

Although, honestly? Based on my experience reading Episode 6, and what little I've read about Episode 7...another part of me is tempted to wait until the last episode comes out (whatever number that ends up being), and then read the rest of the series. Because, I swear...It keeps getting more confusing as it goes. I actually didn't enjoy Episode 6 nearly as much as some of the others, for that very reason. This is the point where they're supposed to be explaining things, but they're not doing a very good job of it. Or else I just have the IQ of a cabbage. That's possible, too. =P

...Damn, this post got long. ^^;; Whoops?
wildvision: (Demyx - Cue cards)
Witch Hunt released the episode 6 patch last weekend, and I've just now finished reading it. *Squee*

Spoilers for the whole game )

Man...Episode 7 doesn't even come out until August. Then, it'll be a fair while after that before we see a translation patch. I can hardly wait~!
wildvision: (Lina - Superstar)
They've released the portrait and cover for Umineko episode 7~! There's a post on [livejournal.com profile] rokkenjima, over here.

I'm kinda surprised that they're introducing yet more new characters, this late in the game. I mean...Umineko's got a freaking huge cast, already. And there's speculation that episode 8 will be the end, so...I don't know. I have no opinion on the new folks, though, since all we have is a picture.

Also, there's a new opening! I sure wasn't expecting that. The first four Umineko games had the same theme, so I figured that the four Chiru games would have the same theme, too. Apparently not, though. The new opening sequence is here. It's pretty, just like the others. *_* I like the song, too. I know it's way too soon for a CD release, but I want one all the same. Full-length version plz~!

I'm a little unsure about the title...I've not read episode 6 yet, so I don't really know where this one's going to be starting. I'm hoping that it doesn't mean the obvious thing, but I'm afraid that it will. We'll see, I guess. ^^;;
wildvision: (Midna - Attitude)
Well, here we are. Episode 5, the start of the material not covered by the anime. Yay~! =D

Spoilers, as usual )

OMG...is it time for the episode 6 translation patch to be posted yet? *Grabby hands*
wildvision: (Midna - Deny you)
Yet another freakishly long Umineko post. Whoops? =P

Spoilers, as usual )

Onward to episode 5~! And that means territory not covered by the anime~! =D
wildvision: (Amaterasu & Waka - My co-pilot)
And now, my thoughts on Episode 3. Yes, this is another long one. I'd originally planned to break it up into multiple posts, but then I didn't. Oops. ^^;;

Spoilers, as usual )

Man, it took me way too long to finish this one. =P Onward to Episode 4 on Monday, I suppose.
wildvision: (Midna - Deny you)
Okay, I just finished Umineko episode 2. These games are definitely interesting...I won't quite say whether they're as confusing as the anime or not, yet. It's too early to say that. But I'm definitely having fun. And this post got way long. ^^;;

Spoilers within )

Onward to episode 3~! =D
wildvision: (Riku - My fears)
Well, I finished Episode 1 tonight.

Mild spoilers )

I'll get started on Episode 2 on Monday, I suppose. <3 Should be fun.
wildvision: (Watari - The scientist)
My Umineko games came in the mail yesterday! Yay! I got them installed late last night, and started playing this evening.

No spoilers, actually )

I can't wait to play some more tomorrow~ <3
wildvision: (Rinoa - Wings)
Well, I finally got around to ordering some things that I've been eyeing for a while. <3

I got the 3rd DragonBall season set from RightStuf. I've been meaning to get this for quite a while, but I fail at doing things quickly sometimes.

I got a nifty teapot and samples of several different loose leaf teas from Adagio. I've never tried loose tea before, so I'm excited to see how it turns out. I really, really hope that I like it.

And I ordered the Umineko games (Episodes 1-4 and Episodes 5-6) from HimeyaShop. Yes, I decided to give the VN a shot. There's just something intriguing about it; I couldn't just let it go after the anime. I can't wait to give it a try!

And as usual, the waiting for delivery is the hardest part. I swear, I'm so impatient...it drives me nuts every time I order something online. XD

...Yes, this post was pointless. I just wanted to squee a bit. ^^;;
wildvision: (Demyx - Cue cards)
After commenting a bit with [livejournal.com profile] amelia_seyroon, I decided to give the Umineko anime a try. As I watch, I'm jotting down my thoughts, questions, and what have you. I know that at least a couple of people on my flist have seen Umineko...If any of you have any thoughts or insights, or can answer my questions, I'd really appreciate it. <3

Spoilers for the whole anime )

If anybody understood this better than I did, please enlighten me? Pretty please? Also, anyone read the VN? If so, is it any more coherent? Does it explain things? Basically, is it worth my time trying to get a hold of it? If it's more of the same, I probably won't. Maybe some people enjoy being utterly confused as they go through a story, but I don't. I mean...being unsure as to 'whodunit' is one thing; that's standard mystery fare. But not having the slightest clue as to what's going on? That's a whole different thing. =P
