Another Reason to Love RightStuf...
Mar. 17th, 2013 05:47 am...They're releasing The Rose of Versailles! =D
Man, I've heard of this one since way back in the day, but there was never an English release. I don't know why, because it's awesome. <3 In addition to the upcoming DVD sets, RightStuf has also decided to offer the series for streaming, here. So, I pre-ordered the DVDs, and I've been watching it on Viki in the meantime. ^^;; I'm impatient that way.
And OMG, I am in love. <3 Sure, the art's a little dated, but honestly? I don't really care. It's action-y, and shoujo-y, and I can see why it was so influential to the genre. And I totally want to be Oscar when I grow up. <3 So freaking badass.
Have you seen this one,
amelia_seyroon? I've always heard it referenced in relation to SKU, and now that I'm watching it, I can see why. It's got a similar feel to SKU, but without the mindscrew element. And I swear, Oscar must be Utena's great-great-etc-grandmother. <3 I'd always heard that SKU took some inspiration from RoV, and it shows. So, if you like SKU, I'm guessing you'd like this.
I just finished episode eight, so I've still got a ways to go. (It has 40 episodes total, I think.) I'm looking forward to watching the rest, though I'm a bit worried about how it will end. My history isn't very good, but I know enough about the French Revolution to know that it's not going to be pretty. =( Things are still in the happy-and-carefree stage now, but I know it's going to get darker and more sad as the series progresses. We'll just have to see, I guess.
