Grey's Anatomy Finale~
Wow. Tonight's GA finale was just...wow. Here are my thoughts, in no particular order.
-- I seriously gasped out loud when the gunman shot Reed in the head. I mean, I saw the episode preview last week. I knew what this episode was about. But I honestly didn't realize it'd be so...graphic. I suppose I should have realized, since they actually suck a 'viewer discretion advised' warning on it. (And I did think that was odd, when I first saw it. I just didn't connect what it meant until later. ^^;;)
-- Oh, man...the scene with the gunman and Christina in the elevator, where he asks her directions? And the 'have a nice day' at the end...that was so freaking creepy. =o It's probably a damn good thing for her that she was polite today.
-- This was, easily, the most tense, scary episode of Grey's in a long time...maybe the most tense, scary one ever. Holy freaking cow.
-- The scene where the gunman pulls Bailey out from under that bed...OMG. Even after she said 'no' when he asked if she was a surgeon, I honestly wondered if he'd shoot her anyway. (Hell, he shot at least one other nurse. So why not?) So glad that he didn't. I love Bailey. <3
-- I'm seriously glad that they didn't kill off anyone that I liked. (Nothing against the doc who was with Bailey, but I wasn't attached.) I didn't quite think that they'd kill anyone too major, what with the recent loss of both George and Izzie, but I wasn't sure. And I was honestly worried for the newer or secondary characters like Owen, Teddy, and Arizona. I kinda thought one of them might die. I'm glad I was wrong.
-- What was the point of having Meredith be pregnant, just for this one episode? =/ I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm really glad that it didn't stick, but it just seemed...really overly dramatic. Like, it was just another reason for angst. (As if there wasn't enough, already!)
-- Damn...Christina doing surgery on Derek was just massively awesome. All that time with her helping (and covering for) Burke in the past, and otherwise developing her skills way more than they otherwise would be...it all comes into play here. I almost wonder if that was planned. (Or if I'm giving the writers too much credit. XD)
-- And Owen, going back for Christina...I guess that's his choice, then? I hope so. I really do like them together. (Although, if that is his choice...I wonder if Teddy's going to stick around much longer? I kinda hope so, since I like her. But it might be easier if she didn't. So, I don't know.)
-- Man, when I saw Richard walk into the hospital, I seriously thought they might kill him off. I'm really, really glad they didn't.
-- Speaking of Richard, I hope he goes back to being Chief next season. I love Derek and all, but Richard's the Chief. It just isn't right having someone else in that spot. XD (Plus, I think that Derek would be happier if he went back to his old position. Seeing him complain about the paperwork and other nonsense, and not getting to operate anymore...I just get the feeling that he thinks being the Chief's not all it's cracked up to be.)
-- Okay, I have to say, the whole Arizona/Callie bit at the end made me want to punch a writer. Seriously. You do not get to give us an awesome childfree lady (possibly the only one I've seen on TV), and then have her change her mind. Seriously! That's just bloody insulting. Honestly, though, the way they handled this whole thing kinda pisses me off. I mean...I liked Callie before. Now I don't, very much. She was such a selfish, rotten brat about it. I mean, I get that you're going to be upset if you find out that your lover wants different things in life than you do. She has every right to be upset...but she still behaved very badly. Hell, look at Arizona. She was mature about it all. She was sad, but she respected Callie's decision. She didn't insult her, or imply that there was something wrong with her because she wanted something different. She never asked her to change. She just realized that this is an issue that you can't compromise on, and so the relationship needed to end. And that's where it should have stayed. Plus, seriously...in this episode, Callie was such a bitch at the beginning. I get being mad because you've been hurt, but again...Arizona didn't do anything wrong. So it's not fair to take it out on her like she's the transgressor. And then she says something about Arizona probably not even trying to change...well, duh! This is not the sort of thing that you try to talk yourself into, just to please your partner! Unless you're a massive idiot, you'd realize that won't end well. You either want kids, or you don't. That simple. And having them when you don't is just going to cause all sorts of problems. And, like Arizona said...you shouldn't have to change who you are just to make your partner happy. If they can't be happy with you the way you are, then they don't deserve you. And you deserve better than them. Argh, this whole storyline makes me want to kick someone. Please, please let Arizona come to her senses after the fear/adrenaline is out of everyone's systems. (Or, at the very least, let the subject drop, never to come up again. =P)
Man...I can't wait for the next season!
