Yes, I'm Still Around...
Dec. 16th, 2013 07:51 pmUgh, I totally fail at LJ lately. I've been meaning to post for a couple of weeks now, but I never got around to it. Because yes, I am that lazy. Bleh.
Well, let's see. I'm finished with my Christmas shopping, which is nice. Still waiting for a couple of things to come in the mail, but that's it. And as per usual for this time of year, I'm quietly fretting over my bank account. I'm not broke or anything, but this is way more money than I usually spend at once. (Other than at this time of year, that is.) Plus, I've still got a couple of other bills that I'm paying off. Realistically, I'm sure I'll be fine. But I still worry, regardless. ^^;;
Speaking of worrying...we're having absolutely shitty luck with appliances lately. Our oven got wonky on Thanksgiving; the stove-top still works fine, but the inside is really hit and miss. Some times it'll work for a little while, then quit. Sometimes it won't work at all. Mom had a guy look at it, and he had to order a part to fix it. Then, yesterday, our fridge/freezer combo crapped out. The freezer wasn't working at all, so we had to throw out everything that we had in there. =/ And the fridge is nearly as bad; it's still a little cold, but not nearly what it should be. So, when the guy comes tomorrow to fix the oven, Mom's going to have him look at the fridge. No idea how long it'll take to get it fixed, or what it'll cost. Ugh.
And the thing is, neither of these appliances are very old! No more than three or four years, I think. So this is really aggravating me. Plus, of all the times it could have happened, this time of year is the worst. =P
Plus, my schedule's going to be out of whack for the next two weeks or so, because of the holidays. I'm grateful for the extra pay I'll be able to earn, but I'm still cringing a little. I won't get a proper weekend until after the first of the year. So I know I'm going to get tired, and stay tired until then. =P I'll manage, obviously, but I'm going to whine about it a little.
On the positive side, I've been enjoying the new season of My Little Pony so far. I had some mixed feelings on the Daring Do episode, but overall, I'm happy. Also, rewatching season 3 of Winx Club so I can get some screencaps for icons. I haven't seen this bit for a while; it's kinda wild to go back to the older art style. I like it, though. =D I'm also keeping an eye on the new season six episodes. I've only watched the first one so far; I might let the episodes build up a bit, so I can splurge on a bunch at once. But I will say this...from the clips I just watched, I think I may like this new transformation more than I thought I would. Fingers crossed!
...And I'm trying not to look at RightStuf's holiday sales. Because they always have such awesome deals, but I really don't need to be spending more money just yet. XD

No Castle. No idea why. It showed up in the to-be-recorded list earlier, but for whatever reason, it didn't tape. And I can't find it online anywhere. I imagine I'll find it eventually, but still. Rawr!
Lookit, Kat's Actually Posting!
Jul. 16th, 2013 04:19 amI swear, I really fail at LJ lately. XD So I was on vacation last week. I figured I'd write up a post then, but as you can see, I didn't. Yes, I am that lazy.
Granted, it's not like anything exciting happened. I saw Despicable Me 2; it was awesome and hilarious. Went out for dinner with my folks a couple of times. Did a little shopping, without much success. And worked on some of my usual projects. I actually got a couple more Winamp skins made, which is nice. Not quite ready to post that update, but hopefully soon. =) Also poked around the Megamind fandom a bit. I was a little surprised how much I liked that movie. But then, it's got a dorky lead character who likes to blare 80s rock/metal music. What's not to love? XD
Oh, and the Warehouse 13 season finale was last Monday. All I have to say about that is: O. M. G. I need the next episode, like now. And I am so ticked that they're canceling this awesome show! I am grateful that they're giving it some closure, but still. There is SO much room for material here...it could have gone on a LOT longer. =(
Then, I went back to work today. Everything was fine while I was out, which is good. Not that I expected problems, but still. And I had some disks from Netflix to watch, so I wasn't bored. I'm working my way through Suits season 2 right now, and I'm enjoying it.

Nov. 27th, 2011 04:32 amUgh, I'm so glad it's the weekend. I'm tiiiiiiired.
Got my hair colored today, which was nice. Had to get up early to do it, which was not. And, my stylist isn't going to do hair anymore, so this'll be the last time she'll do my hair. =( She recommended a couple of people that she thinks would be good for me (and my mom), but still. I like her. She's the only one I've ever let mess with my hair much at all. Plus, she's just a cool lady. We're a lot alike, and I always enjoy talking with her.
Read the new chapter of Pandora Hearts...and all I can say is WTF? Seriously, these last few chapters...MochiJun is awfully fond of the mindfuckery. I'll hold off on posting opinions until I actually understand what all's going on. I can haz next chapter nao?
Also watched this week's MLP. It was okay, but I wasn't that impressed. Plus, two Rainbow Dash episodes in a row. =P She's not my favorite to begin with, and seeing her being kind of obnoxious two weeks in a row is a bit much. Luckily, next week's episode is centered on Rarity, so hopefully it'll be a nice change.
I've been trying to come up with ideas for Christmas gifts for my family, but without much luck. I seriously suck at gift buying. =P Honestly, I kinda just want to get it over with...Get my shopping done, so I don't have to worry about it, y'know? But I want to get things that they'll enjoy...and that's what's taking so long. Bleh.
On a brighter note, I finally got my DW all set up, and the content transfered. I've added it to Semagic, so this entry should show up on my main journal, plus my backups. We'll see if it works. =)
I've also been tinkering around with some Winamp skins. I'm trying to do some more for Pandora Hearts now, but I'm having a heck of a time with both Lotti and Vincent. I can't think of a title for either, and Vincent just won't cooperate at all in the general design process. Bleh. I am surprisingly pleased with my Sharon skin, though. I hadn't expected it'd turn out well. <3

Coming back after a week off is always a little tough, but damn. Things...just kinda sucked this week. Plus, it was a longer work week than usual. Thanksgiving is next week, so I had to work today. Kind of annoying, having to get up early and go to work on a Saturday...but I'll be getting overtime for it, so I don't mind as much.
...Plus, Starbucks had a two-for-one deal on their holiday drinks. So I got two Caramel Brulee lattes to carry me through my shift. Coffee makes everything better. <3
I get tomorrow off, which is nice. Too bad this isn't one of those holidays that fall on a Monday, so I'd still get a 'weekend' of sorts. XD I'll get Thursday off, of course, but still. I'm tired...I'd like two in a row. Oh, well. I'll get next weekend, as usual.

I just started on Brisingr tonight, which is kind of fun, since I've only read it once. Dunno how long it'll take me to finish them all. The later books are fairly long, plus I get Netflix disks each week...and I'm inclined to take a break every now and then to watch them.

The basic subject matter would have put me off, but I saw some random episodes on TNT, that dealt with other types of cases, and I came to love the characters. So I had to go back and start from the beginning. I'm up to season 10 now, I think.

As usual, I don't have just one favorite character. I loved Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, and AppleJack from the get-go. And I ended up really loving Rarity, too, which was a surprise. I didn't expect I'd get that attached; she's the girly fashionista type, and I've never been that type of girl. But I ended up loving her all the same. <3 And I like Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie, too, of course. Rainbow Dash more than Pinkie, but still. They're all cool!
...And now I want that second season! Anybody know when it's due out?

Grey's Anatomy Finale~
May. 21st, 2010 03:55 amWow. Tonight's GA finale was just...wow. Here are my thoughts, in no particular order.

...As usual, I hate my company's holiday policy. =P
Thanksgiving is this Thursday, so that means that my schedule was messed up last week, and will be again this week. Bleh. Honestly...I'd like to know whose bright idea it was to have us work the Saturday prior to the actual holiday, rather than just working on that day. So I could kick him in the shins. =P It's just really bloody stupid. Either give us the day off, or let us work it and get holiday pay. I don't care which. But, no, that would be logical. And we can't have that, now, can we?
Disclaimer: I actually really like my job. And my company. They've treated me well, and it's a nice job. But this is one of the few things that really drives me nuts. Rawr.
And I'm not a happy camper when I don't get my two days off. Seriously...one is just not enough. So, I didn't do anything even remotely productive today. And I likely won't do much for the rest of this week, either. Bleh.
On a happier note, I started watching NCIS this week. (Thank you, Netflix!) I've watched just a little more than half the first season, and I think I'm in love. <3 So yay, new show!
Also watched the new Star Trek movie today. That was fun. <3 It's a good movie, plus it's always nice to get to geek with my mother about something. (Hooray for parents with similar interests. XD)

Can't say I'm terribly surprised, since Fox sucks at handling shows like this, but I'm still aggravated. At least they're going to give us the rest of the season. (Which isn't even a full season to begin with; only 13 episodes total. =P) Still. Grah. I'm not pleased.
...And it's freezing in here. I swear, it was warm enough for t-shirts and sandals earlier this week, but now I'm wearing my warm winter PJs and nice thick socks, and I'm still cold. =P

Trekkie Musings
Aug. 28th, 2009 02:25 amI'm a trekkie. Have been for years. I've seen most of the franchise, and I'm currently working on watching what I haven't already. And I have to ask:
What's with the hate for Enterprise? From what little I've seen online, it's like the red-headed step-child of the franchise. And I don't get it. I like it as much as the other Trek series I've seen. (Hell, it's tied with DS9 for my second favorite Trek.) And honestly? Seasons 3 and 4 have me utterly flabbergasted that it ever got canceled. I'll admit that the series starts a little bit slow; and the Vulcans (T'Pol included) were annoying jerks in the beginning. But those things are rectified pretty quickly...and again, the last two seasons freaking rocked.
And here's my ST preferences, just because.
