Not A Good Start, Guys...

Okay, Castle writers. I've got a bone to pick with you.

That was seriously the worst season premiere I've seen in quite a while. Yuck.

There are so many things wrong, here. First off, another conspiracy/spy-type plot? Really? The first one you did kind of sucked, so why are you going there again? Ugh. The long-running storyline about Beckett trying to find her mother's murderer was interesting, at first. It was a good idea, and in the beginning at least, well executed. But you dragged it out way too long, and turned it into something way more complicated and convoluted than it really needed to be. By the time she finally arrested Bracken, my feeling wasn't 'Yay, she got him!' so much as, 'Thank God, it's finally over!'. =P

Now, this was bad enough. But, as I said, you finally wrapped things up, so I could move on. But no. Now, you're leaping into yet another, extremely similar storyline. And this is after that bullshit 'disappearing Castle' storyline. Seriously?! Castle is not a spy show. For heaven's sake, don't you know that? It's a funny crime drama, which gets a lot of its strength from the characters and their interaction. It's a funny show. Not this grimdark garbage that you're trying to turn it into.

And driving a wedge between Castle and Beckett is the absolute height of lazy writing. What, they're together now, and that's boring? Sorry, no. I absolutely despise when writers damage or break up a popular couple, just for the sake of having drama. Nobody's allowed to be happy, basically. I've seen it in more shows than I can count, and I freaking hate it. Lazy, lazy, lazy! And I'm sorry, but everyone knew from pretty much the beginning that Castle/Beckett was endgame. They'd eventually get together, and when they did, it'd stick. No flings, no short relationships, none of that. They'd finally stop dancing around each other, they'd have a relationship, and they'd get married. And that's what happened! So why the hell are you trying to sabotage things? There are so many more ways to drum up some drama, if you're that desperate for it. Castle and Beckett aren't the only characters, you know. =/ Espo and Lanie have an on-again, off-again thing going. Do something with that, if you need relationship drama. Or hell, Ryan's married. His wife isn't really a character, but you could make her one, if you wanted. Or you could have drama that isn't about romance! Shocking, I know. =P

Honestly, the writing has been getting weaker for a while. But nothing really drastic, you know? I could tell that the episodes weren't as good as the earlier seasons, but they were still worth watching. But now? If they're going down this rabbit hole again, I may just jump ship. I got into Castle because it was funny and enjoyable to watch. But this uber-dark BS? Is neither.

Can we stop it with writers wrecking my favorite shows, already? Ugh.
