One on One
Aug. 14th, 2016 04:28 amWell, I'm home!
We pretty much just made a day of it; we went down to St. Louis early enough to get dinner, and then some. We were going to eat at Charlie Gitto's, but they had a line out the door. So, we went to Sugarfire instead. I'd kind of been hoping for Italian, but I'd never say no to such good barbecue! And, best of all, Rich did end up going with us. That made me happy; we don't get to all go out together very often anymore. <3
After we ate, we went to the stadium. And the crowds were crazy, as you can imagine. Which wouldn't have been so bad, if not for the fact that it was something like 90 degrees, and we'd spent the day walking everywhere. So it was kind of uncomfortable. Plus, being an open stadium rather than a closed concert hall, there was no air conditioning once we got seated. Thankfully, after the sun went down, it cooled off a little. And it didn't rain! XD I was afraid it would; there's been flash flooding all over the place in this area, so I thought we might get wet. But thankfully not.
The show was great, as expected. Paul played a lot of old favorites, including a couple that I didn't expect. My only complaint is that the audio wasn't very good. I'm guessing it's because we were in a stadium, rather than a typical concert hall. Being outside, in an open area probably affects the accoustics. All I know is that it was mostly just loud, but hard to actually hear anything, if that makes sense. Like, he played a couple of newer songs that I'd never heard before. And I couldn't make out the lyrics to any of them. I could only pick out the lyrics on the old songs because I already knew them. =P I absolutely had fun, but I much preferred seeing him in an enclosed venue like the Savvis Center; the audio on those concerts was much better. The pyrotechnics on "Live and Let Die" were pretty incredible, though! They had fireworks; can't do that inside!
Then, after the concert, we went to an all-night pancake house for food. It was a ways out, but the food was good. Mom and I both got waffles; very yummy. Dad and Rich got giant omlettes, which came with a stack of pancakes for a side. It was a lot of food! We all left full.
That's about it. We headed home after that. And now, I am tired. My legs are sore from all the walking we did, plus being crammed into the tiny stadium seating with no leg room. And it's actually later than I'd expected we'd be getting home. So I think I'm just going to watch a little TV, then go to bed early.
